The CCM Extreme Flex 3 Leg Pad is the newest and lightest pad from CCM.
Speed Skin Technology is CCM’s new external material for the E-Flex 3 pads and gloves. For quicker, more explosive sliding, Speed Skin reduces friction between the pad and the ice. In testing, Speed Skin performs better than Clarino and is just as durable.
The Optimized Weight Distribution (OWD) Core System consists of a re-engineered foam core design of the leg pad. With a slimmer thigh rise and the center mass located below the knee, the Extreme Flex III pad is more balanced and lightweight than ever before. A 34+1 E-Flex 3s weighs in at 5.2 lbs. By comparison, the E-Flex II weighed in at 6.3 lbs (at 34+2.)
CCM replaced the traditional cowhide leather straps with new, lightweight (and durable) nylon webbing straps. These new straps weigh 10 to 12 percent lighter than cowhide straps. Testing revealed that, aside from knee straps, a single top calf strap was the most important strap. CCM’s new strap setup allows the pad to properly rotate around the leg without any restriction from other straps.
The CCM Extreme Flex III leg pad provides a modern spin on the classic Extreme Flex line. The E-Flex III feature Speed Skin Technology designed for quick gliding and explosive cross-crease power pushes. CCM introduced the O.W.D Core System, which eases movement in the crease. The QK5 Strapping system gives exceptional 5-hole closure.
The outer flex of the pad features a single break. This allows for maximum flexibility. The pad’s inner flex consists of a pre-curved, single break core. The E-Flex III features a 90 degree boot flex with torsional flex. It also offers a deep, ultra soft boot channel for more freedom of movement. The knee cradle in the E-Flex III is deeper than the E-Flex II. The removable knee cradle wrap with recessed foam plays a big role in closing the 5 hole. The new lightweight, thin-molded foam core offers exceptional weight balance for a quicker transition into butterfly.
