CCM Premier Junior Goalie Pant
The CCM Premier Junior Goalie Pant is built for the coverage style junior goalie. This pant has a wide fit to the waist area. Because of this wider fit, CCM has added an inner waist belt to help keep the pant on the goalies body better. The thigh protection of this pant is also very wide, it is built with the least amount of contour allowed so that is maximizes surface coverage. The outer hip area has segmented PE foam protection that gives the goalie more protection and also allows for complete flexibility. A great feature about the CCM Premier pant is the lower cut waist for better movement with a higher cut free floating spine protector. This features still allows the max flexibility and gives more protection in a vital area for the goalie. The junior and intermediate Premier pant have a zipper around the waist, what this feature does is add or subtract length to the pant. If you feel the pant is getting to short, unzip this feature and it will add one more inch to the length of the pant.

Pant/Chest Protector Combinations – Tucked In vs. Over The Pant
Tucked In – Some goalies prefer to tuck his or her chest protector into their goalie pant. When using this method, the suspenders will need to be worn over the chest protector. You will notice a little tab on the lower middle center portion of the chest protector. This tab will allow the goalie who tucks their chest protector in the ability to tie it into the pant. You can either use the pant belt to run through the tab or use skate lace string to tie it onto the chest protector. This keeps the chest protector from pulling out of the pant and becoming uncomfortable and out of position during play. Most goalies who use the tucked in method generally like to buy their pants one size to big for the extra room needed.
Over The Pant – Some goalies prefer to place the chest protector over the pant. When using this method, the suspenders will need to be worn under the chest protector. Although there is nothing wrong with this method and it is quite common, there is one problem with the over the pant method. Since the chest protector does not sit flush on the goalies stomach in this method, an air pocket is created. In the event of a very hard shot to this area, the air pocket gap closes very quickly and can cause bruising or the feeling of having the wind knocked out of you.
Sizing Differences: Youth, Junior & Intermediate
Many parents do not understand the sizing terms used in goalie equipment. Youth, junior and intermediate are often confused as too which term goes with which age group. We will explain the differences to help eliminate any errors in the ordering process. Youth goalie gear is the smallest on the market. This is generally for your five year to eight year old goalies. Youth gear is generally less expensive and not made with high quality materials. Higher quality materials and foams at a youth level pose two issues. One; they are too stiff for a small goalie to move around and two; the goalie will outgrow the gear before they even break it in. Therefore it is ok to have lesser quality at the youth goalie gear age group. The junior goalie equipment is for the eight year to the twelve year old goalie. This again is not made with the highest quality materials. The quality is certainly better then the youth gaolie gear however the need for flexibility and movement outweighs the need for high end materials that will last several years. In the junior level gear, specs are more defined and equipment is made with performance in mind. Generally junior goalie equipment will have a lot of performance features that will be found in higher level gear. Lastly is the intermediate level goalie equipment. Intermediate gear is generally for eleven to fourteen year old goalies or even smaller adults. This gear generally uses higher density foams and higher quality materials. Goalies in this age group put a lot of wear and tear on their gear so manufactures need to build it accordingly. Everything about intermediate gear is made with higher level performance features and extra protection features. Players at this age group are playing faster and shooting harder therefore the goalie gear needs to be better as well.
