CCM Tacks Senior Goalie Leg Pads – Special Edition
CCM has a completely new line for 2026. The Tacks is a new goalie name for CCM, and this is a completely new and redesigned pad for 2026.
Goalies Plus had to make a decision for 2026, go with the CCM Tacks line or go with the Warrior Surge line. We choose the CCM pad as we felt it would fit a larger portion of our customers with the new break angle of the pads along with other features we preferred over the Warrior line. At Goalies Plus, we are trying to stay away from super stiff pads with no pre-mold built in them as we have seen a growing rise in knee and hip issues over the past several years. Although a super stiff pad with no pre-mold may be good for some goalies, we have seen the majority of our customers’ needs a pad with a defined pre-mold or softer built features. This is our opinion based on our customers’ feedback and we felt the CCM better suited what we were looking for.
The Goalies Plus CCM Tacks goalie leg pads will come in six custom and unique colors. This pad is completely new for CCM, not resembling anything of models past. The Tack Goalie Pad will have the new V-Shape. This new modern and technical shape has a thin profile and a 150-degree bend at the bottom of the knee. This is a stiffer pad however with this 150-degree bend, it allows the goalie to get into the butterfly position with a full five-hole seal without forcing the body into undo stress on the knees and hips. Without a v-shape or pre-mold to the leg pads, a goalie that does not have natural body flexibility to seal a straight stiff pad is forced to contort their body in unnatural positions which can eventually lead to injury. This is a big problem we see day to day at Goalies Plus.
The v-shape of the CCM tacks leg pads also serve as a technical advantage for goalies. The shape of this pad naturally places rebounds in angles and safer areas for the goalie. The high-density FZN 150-V Core of the Tacks goalie pads has an explosive rebound that today’s goalies are looking for.
CCM will continue to utilize the Dynamic Response System knee stack. This knee stack system integrates into the core of the pad which allows for more stability and control and therefore a greater performance benefit to the goalie. The DRS knee stack system also has great impact absorption ability which takes pressure off the goalies’ joints and back. The constant pounding a goalie takes from going up and down takes its toll on the body and the DRS helps with this issue.
The boot of the CCM Tacks leg pads will have a very soft boot flex – again very popular in today’s pad market. This will allow for maximum foot and ankle mobility in various save recovery movements. The boot will also feature a shallow channel (basically no channel). This has become extremely popular with every brand over the past few years.
The strapping systems of the CCM tacks goalie leg pads will also be new for 2026. The ADPTFIT strapping system. The APDTFIT on the Tacks leg pads is an upper adjustable zone that a goalie can customize to their particular needs. It has a generous sized inner calf wrap that fully sucres the pad to the goalie’s leg maximum comfort.
The thigh rise on the Tacks leg pads is very tall for a plus one. We would say that the Tacks plus one is more like everyone else’s plus two. Just something to keep in mind when placing an order.
The inner edge of the CCM Tacks goalie pads will have the cross-glide technology. This material slides much better than the old CCM Speedskin. Based on professional feedback, it has a good slide, not the most slidable pad on the market but very good. Vaughn and Brian’s have the most slidable surfaces with Bauer and CCM coming in about the same slideability. So, for a goalie that wants a little more control in their butterfly slides, the cross-glide pad is a great option.
CCM will use a hybrid lace system in the Tack leg pads versus a bungee toe tie system. The hybrid lace system is a skate lace system with built in slack to allow the goalie skate free range of motion without any restriction. The hybrid toe tie has a Velcro connection at the ends that allow for quick and easy connection while getting dressed. Here at Goalies Plus, we deal with a large amount of NHL pro return gear – most of which use a skate lace system versus a bungee system.
