True Catalyst Junior Goalie Leg Pads 

Now available at Goalies Plus is True Catalyst junior goalie leg pads. The Catalyst junior pad has a lower density foam design which gives the pad much more flexibility compared to other junior models.  Most people think of stiff when they think True, but this pad is a softer junior pad.  Flex is extremely important for a young goalie compared to taller and older goalies.  The lower density foams and the single break give the pad extra vertical and horizontal flex.  Because the goalie is small in size, stiff pads bind the goalie up and limit movement, with more flex; the goalie moves much more freely around the crease and in and out of save techniques.  A taller and older goalie can use stiffer pads because they are taller and stronger – therefore dispersing the stiffness in many ways that a young goalie cannot.

On the backside of the pad, the Catalyst uses a nylon knee and leg channel.  This helps maximize pad rotation in and out of the various butterfly techniques.  The knee channel also has a wide design to accommodate various goalie knee guards.

The boot of the Catalyst has the 90-degree angle which again provides the flex in the boot that the hybrid goalie wants. The True Catalyst junior pads were designed to maximize the benefits of boot flex, resulting in enhanced mobility and control for all different game situations.

The inner edge of the True Catalyst junior leg pad has a weave material to help maximize the goalies slide going side to side in the butterfly techniques. True also did a great job on the height to width ratio on these pads.  The pads come in at 9.75 inches wide which allows the goalie to keep full mobility and not creating a bow-legged effect because the pads are too wide.

The last think about the True Catalyst junior pads is the weight.  At 2.0 pounds per pad (based on a 26+2), these are incredible light for a junior pad.  This helps the young goalie who struggles with stamina because their gear is too heavy.

Now available at Goalies Plus is the True Catalyst junior catch glove.  The True junior catch glove has a smaller size proportion for a young goalie.  Compared to a Vaughn or CCM junior catch gloves, the True Catalyst is smaller.  We would say it is borderline youth/junior sized. This is great for goalies with really small hands but need the quality of a junior catch glove versus a youth glove.

The Catalyst junior catch glove has the traditional True 590 break angle that is universal to a large variety of goalies.  The large single-t design helps minimize pop-outs and makes it easy to open and close for a young goalie. This glove is very easy to open and close right off the shelf.

True Catalyst Junior Goalie Blocker

The True Junior Blocker has a smaller size proportion for a young goalie.  Compared to a Vaughn or CCM junior blocker, it is smaller.  We would say it is borderline youth/junior sized. This is great for goalies with really small hands but need the quality of a junior blocker versus a youth blocker.

On to the backside of the True Catalyst junior blocker, the cuff area on the has been segmented to allow for maximum wrist mobility.  Wrist mobility is extremely important for holding the stick and learning how to stick handle for young goalies.  The finger protection of the Catalyst junior blocker has full wrap around protection with the pointer finger being separated for extra finger flexibility.  The thumb area has a soft pillow separating the thumb from this outer area.
